Kamala theatre gets a makeover

Kamala theatre, the landmark theatre in Vadapalani in Chennai and one of the highest collecting single screens before the advent of multiplexes has had a makeover and an additional screen. The inauguration of the new screen saw an array of stars descending amidst their busy schedule to prove what the theatre means to their cinematic career. Those who graced the occasion include veteran actors like Kamal Haasan, Napolean MP, Sathyaraj, Manorama, Vijay, Simbu, Parthiban and Vivek. Also present on the occasion was the State Information Minister Parithi Ellamvazhuthi, Abirami Ramanathan, directors Rama Narayanan, and S.A Chandrashekar among others.
VN Chidambaram, Chairman of Kamala theatre went nostalgic in his welcome address. He narrated anecdotes regarding each star and their experience in the theatre. Later, one by one, the celebrities spoke about the role Kamala theatre played in their life. For all of them, it was a trip down the memory lane recollecting the place the theatre had held in their life. The newly opened screen 2, was inaugurated with Maasilamani as the opening attraction.
