Dhanush's Anegan dull @ box-office!

sources say that Anegan which release last week in the combination of the duo has not been doing ‘great business’ at the box-office.

Produced by Kalpathi Aghoram’s AGS Entertainment, the film had everything going for it: adequate pre-release publicity, a debuting heroine, Anand’s directorial touch, etc. However, ironically and as it happens mostly in Kollywood, nobody could predict a film’s success in advance and as it was widely felt, the actor-director duo might have gone ‘overboard’ in deciding to celebrate the film’s success on the very next day of its release.

Both Anand and Dhanush, the national award-winning actors, are stars in their own right. Anand has a set of fans who love his sophisticated style of film-making while Dhanush, riding high on the super-success of his last year’s Velaiyilla Pattathari and the recent Hindi release in Shamitabh, obviously thought that there was no way Anegan could (have) go(ne) wrong.

That the film couldn’t get the desired number of theatres for its release is a fact despite the reality that AGS itself has on lease more than 100 theatres all over the State. The crew was somehow shocked that they couldn’t get the theatres as per their liking as Ajith’s Yennai Arindhaal, which is in its third week in theatres now, is still going strong. The crew is now waiting with bated breath hoping that theatrical collections would pick up in the second week.
